Fin’s ss12 lands at Office Kings Road

Friday, January 27th, 2012

If you happen to be wandering down the Kings Road this weekend we suggest you take a look at the window of Office where our SS12 collection is currently on show. We think the George in Cobalt Blue looks great!

Featuring the Samuel and George suede loafer

After admiring the window display we caught up with the Kings Road menswear manager, Chris Williams who answered a few of our questions.

What do you like most about the Fin’s range?

I love how comfortable your loafers are. The George is a particular favourite of mine. I also think the price point is competitive and gives our customers real value for money. The Fin’s range really raises the standard of our men’s shoes offering in store.

What does the Office customer look for in their shoes?

Our customers look for a good mix of styles when they visit us. The bestselling styles with our customers over the past few seasons have been boat shoes and loafers. The Moccasin and Desert Boot styles have also been very popular over the winter.

What’s your favourite style from the Fin’s SS12 collection?

I’d have to say the George Suede loafer. It’s one of the most comfortable shoes I own! However, the new Samuel loafer is fast becoming a favourite and I’m looking forward to trying it out over the next few months.

What have your customers got to look forward to from Office Kings Road in SS12?

Colour! After a dark and muted winter, everything is lifting for Spring/Summer. I think men are becoming more and more open-minded in their colour choices and our summer offering really reflects this.

Finally, what do you think will be the bestseller from the Fin’s range in your store?

My prediction would be the George Suede Loafer in Zanzibar Grey. It’s a super comfy style and I think this colour will be particularly popular with our customers.

Behind the Scenes at the Autumn/Winter 2012 Photoshoot

Monday, January 9th, 2012

The past couple of weeks at Fin’s HQ have been solely devoted to creating our Autumn/Winter 2012 look book.

Trying to translate the look and feel of the collection onto paper is certainly a challenge so we began at the wonderful Lacquer Chest prop store in Kensington to find some treasures that would fit the bill. We could have spent exploring this virtual Aladdin’s cave choosing our dream home decorations but time was of the essence and we had to concentrate on the matter in hand!

We adored their fabulous bottle collection.

Can we take them all home?

It would be impossible to talk about the props on the shoot without mentioning Fin’s family of brass pineapples. All the hours of Ebay bidding finally paid off as the pineapples took centre stage in the photo shoot, along with vintage furs, flags and rugs.

Shining Stars

The photo shoot took two days and was shot by our trusted photographer David Brook. Of course it wouldn’t be a Fin’s photo shoot without creative direction from Fin and in this case, involvement with the photography itself!

Fin at the shoot

Obviously, the real stars of the shoot were all of our fabulous new styles for next season. Unfortunately, these are still being kept a closely guarded secret for a few more months so we leave you with another picture of Fin brushing up on her photography skills.

Adding a helping hand

Look out for the finished look book in a few months time!

A new bag

After my beautiful ASH bag decided to fall apart in Westfields and unveil all contents to nosey shoppers, I need a hearty replacement that won’t let me down! Something that is going to be a great compliment to my arm, turn a few heads, and most importantly not fall apart. For those who are spreading the Christmas joy with deep pockets, this is the one:

Christmas Wish lists

Thursday, December 15th, 2011

With the majority of our Christmas shopping finally completed and festive spirits high in the office, our thoughts have turned to what we are hoping to find in our stockings on Christmas day.

So, for the next few days we will be bringing you a series of wish lists from both members of  Team Fin’s and our friends outside of the office. We would also love to hear what our Finsketeers are hoping for this Christmas so please do send us your wish lists via Facebook, Twitter or email!

Our first wish list comes from Jacob of NYC blog Downeast and Out.

1) Black Captoe Oxfords

I am a bit ashamed to say that I do not own a reasonable pair of standard black oxfords. My work allows me to be a bit more casual on footwear, and I have a few pairs in differing shades of brown. However, a classic pair of dress oxfords is the first pair of shoes any guy should have, as they are arguably the most practical shoes one can own – wear them for anything from formal events to interviews.

2) Coat Rack

You are only afforded so much space in a small New York apartment, so you must be sure to maximize your surroundings. It may be easily overlooked, but a coat rack is an essential piece for keeping clutter minimized. I have wanted a minimalist, heavy cast iron coat rack for some time now, and would love to receive one for Christmas to hang up all my outerwear.

3) LL Bean Signature Matinicus Rock Cardigan

In the northeast, there is ample opportunity to wear thick chunky sweaters from the fall to the early spring. As a Mainer, I have been a longtime fan of LL Bean and the simple values they cherish. With a lifetime guarantee on all their products, you can be sure that they are made with care and attention to detail. This cardigan happens to be a smart-looking piece, while still maintaining plenty of utility.

4) Vintage Omega

Few watches are more timeless than a vintage Omega Seamaster. With their simple faces and outstanding movement, these watches can be kept for generations, and will only look better and better as they patina. I would likely pair one with a simple NATO strap or one made from shell cordovan.

5) Classic Backgammon set

As an avid backgammon fan, I enjoy all aspects of the game, including the craftsmanship that goes into some of the antique and vintage boards and pieces. As I have only owned a fairly inexpensive set up to this point, I would love to get my hands on a well-wrought classic board. These can range from the vintage find on eBay to the completely aspirational set found at Barney’s and listed below:
