10 Corso Como

Sex and the City may have dominated the box office this summer but our fantastic PR man Adam has been having a Fin’s in the City moment in his pair of the eponymous George Original Suede Loafers.  For the ultimate in Euro city chic, Adam chose the George in London Navy to stroll through the streets of Milan, taking him from brunch in the Piazza Duomo to a spot of shopping under the hallowed roof of 10 Corso Como.  Luckily for us, he photographed his Fin’s in all of his favourite haunts.  We loved his man-about-Milan antics so much that, in a fit of generosity, we are launching an August Fin’s giveaway inspired by his photos.  To win a free pair of the Fin’s of your choice, send us a photo of your Fin’s-clad feet in an exotic destination.  Either upload the picture onto our Facebook page, or email it to intern@finsforhim.com and do feel free to send us more than one photo.  Happy snapping!

Shoe-drobe Solutions

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

Whilst showcasing our Fin’s collection at the ultra-chic Florentine menswear trade show Pitti Uomo, we were struck by the level of sartorial elegance with which the male attendees dressed.  We particularly loved the attire of this dashing duo…that is, until we looked down at their feet and discovered them to be sorely in need of some Fin’s.  As part of our mission to improve the shoe-drobes of every man, be they Milanese or Mancunian, we have come up with some fashionable solutions for pounding the pavements of Pitti in eye-catching comfort and style.

On the left:  The nude tones of our Amalfi loafer in Positano would be a perfect complement to the muted greys and whites of this outfit.

On the right:  With his penchant for striking brights, this man is a perfect candidate for sporting some of our more daring styles.  We suggest the Marshall loafer in Jura Heather, which adds an eye-popping edge to any outfit.

Posh Out-Shod by Fin’s

Matthew Williamson

It’s not often that Victoria Beckham doesn’t have the most fashionable feet in the room, but at the Range Rover launch party earlier this month she was definitely out-shod by Matthew Williamson in his Fin’s George loafers.  With his well-documented love of colourful prints, the eye-popping Ibiza Pink is a perfect fit for Matthew’s exotic aesthetic.  For globe-trotting in style this summer, we recommend he picks up the George in Portofino Yellow, Mustique Green and Formentera Turquoise to add to his budding Fin’s collection.

Pitti Uomo June 2010 2 LOW RES

Some of our more avid Fin’s Fans may have been well-informed on our recent trip to Pitti Uomo, but, for those of you that may have been spared the details…  We were genuinely thrilled and excited to have been selected as a “Pop-Up Store” brand at the uber-cool and trendy Pitti Uomo.  For those of you that don’t know, Pitti Uomo is considered to be the chicest of all the menswear trade shows; it’s basically a Disneyland for ideas, trends, and handsome men.  Although we have already spread the Fin’s word slightly beyond the King’s Road – online customers order from lands as distant as Australia and Canada, and our collection can be found enjoying a rum punch in the Pink House, Mustique – we now feel ready to embark on a more significant international crusade.  As we set our stand up between a bearded gentleman in tartan strides charging €1,100 for a pair of sunglasses, and a bespectacled fellow and his elderly mother proffering the finest yak leather products, we prepared for the siege of orders from all corners of the globe.  And, readers, we were not disappointed.  Keep your eyes peeled for our updated stockist list for Spring 2011; it’s pretty fabulous.

Dubaiary: Day 4

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

It’s not every day one slips on a bejewelled Oscar de la Renta number, but today wasn’t just any day.  Boutique 1, my aforementioned stockist extraordinaire, hosted a party to celebrate the Fin’s launch in the UAE in their totally lavish JBR shop.  The full Fin’s range was gloriously displayed in the centre of the menswear department, with their proud designer sitting amongst them having her photo taken.  There were so many members of press and even a few new Fin’s fans, scooping up the first of the B1 Fin’s stock.  I can’t wait to see all the press that this has generated, and hope the photos aren’t too morbs.

Boutique 1 Event 1

There is nothing more wonderful than spending an afternoon looking great and talking about yourself while everyone tells you how wonderful your shoes are.  What an amazing final day before I jet off back to the gloom of London town.  Not only has Fin’s really struck a chord with the peeps in Dubai, the shoes positively glimmer in the Arabian sunshine, and the reaction I have had over here is a reminder that all this hard work is totes worth it.  Thank you so much to everyone for having me, particularly Sophie and Polly, and the team at the Residence at the Royal Mirage; I can’t wait to come back. xx

Dubaiary: Day 2

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

Last night I joined a gang of expats for dinner at a Thai restaurant called Mango Tree.  I have seen the one in London and never really even thought of dining there, but the one over here seems to be something of a hotspot.  And talk about a vista: a really cracking fountain extravaganza exploded from the man-made lake below accompanied by some belly-dancing beats.  Leaping up with my Blackberry to capture the magic on camera while everyone else sat non-plussed, the display was then followed by a soothing spray of cooling fountain-fresh water brought by the breeze.  Sadly the taste and aroma of the spritz was more Chessington World of Adventures than Club 55.  The boys around the table not already wearing their Fin’s were thrilled with the revelations of the new Fin’s Middle East website.

It doesn’t get much more exciting than seeing your own name up in lights.  Well, this is the closest I’ve come yet.  As we went to the Dubai Polo Club to do a recce for tomorrow’s Fin’s event at the Princes’ Cup, they were testing out the big screen, and what should pop up but the Middle East’s new favourite shoe brand.  Major.

Hopefully tomorrow will see the pillars of Emirate society squabbling over the Rio Reds and Mustique Greens, backs turned from the chukkas, mallets, ponies, etc.  Until then, a nap before dinner at Zuma tonight beckons.

Fin’s Style Heart Throbs – Flee Brudenell-Bruce

BLOG - Flee BB

We have a huge crush on model and soon-to-be major movie star Flee B-B, but always find ourselves looking old and frumps standing next to her.  That aside, we are thrilled to have her as one of our Fin’s Style Heart Throb contributors.  She has chosen King of Cool, John Travolta.

Why John Travolta?
Uma Thurman and him in Pulp fiction- that dancing scene. I just want to be her to be with him.

Any particular look that inspires?
The early Mickey Rourke and John Travolta were kind of from the same ilk- they had that effortless cool. The dimple in the chin, the deep smooth voice, the turned up collar and that very important Grease Lightning quiff.
Despite the now middle aged paunch- he still maintains that effortless and unfazed cool and that is why he is my ultimate style heart throb.

Fin’s Heart Throbs – Louise Roe, TV Presenter

BLOG - Louise Roe

We are always glued to the screen whenever Louise Roe appears.  Not only does she always look maddeningly fabulous, but she is also hilarious and full of style nuggets for us to take on board and apply to our own wardrobes.  Trust her to think of someone young and, like, so on-trend, for her heart-throb.  Such a relief to have someone in the Land of the Living (although he is a Twilighter, so alive would be pushing it).

Who is your Style Heart Throb?

It’s a tie between two very different lads…Gregory Peck and up-and-coming Twilighter, Jamie Campbell-Bower. Seeing as Fin stole my idea to have a silver screen heart throb, I’ll go with Jamie.

Why?

I was just on Fashion Police, a show on E! Entertainment, and the producer’s wanted to vote him worst dressed for his ’scruffy’ grey cardigan on the red carpet. i veto’d it and voted him best-dressed, he’s just got that understated style going on: long messy hair, Raybans, a quirky take on the classic suit.

Any particular look that inspires?

A quirky take on the classic suit – smart shoes and trousers but a T-shirt under a blazer or a cardigan instead of a jacket. Sunglasses tucked into his v-neck. Hawt.

Which Fin’s would you choose for him?

Nantucket Grey. He’s not a bright colour chap, but this stoney shade would set off his suits perfectly.

Fin’s Style Heart Throbs – Sophia Hesketh, Superstylist

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

This week, fashion stylist Sophia Hesketh.  Sophia is one of our most fashion fabulous Fin’s fans.  She works as a stylist for the terrifyingly trendy Japanese Vogue, and is one of style.com’s Front Row Faces of tomorrow.  She has worked with Terry Richardson, Mert & Marcus and the high priest of fashion himself, Karl.

Style Heart Throb?

James Dean

Why?

He was so simple, effortless, aloof.  All the components of sexy.

Particular look?

The leather jacket, white t-shirt, jeans – often copied but never bettered.  It’s amazing how such a basic ensemble can still have the association with one icon.

Which Fin’s would you choose for him?

Definitely the Manhattan Blacks.  Slick, simple, the ultimate classic, just like him!

Stocking Finners for Her

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

Well, it’s completely obvs what to buy for Him this Christmas:  i.e.these or these or these, but what about gifts for her?

We rarely get to talk about fabulous things for us ladies over at Fin’s HQ, so we thought we’d indulge ourselves, just in case someone out there wants to take the hint.

FIN’S CHECKLIST:

Balmain with baubles

If I hang around under the mistletoe in this Balmain sensation, something wonderful is bound to happen.

Could I also have some of these to sip in the bath after work?

SALLY’S CHECKLIST:

The obsession with leopard print continues; please may I wake up to this Jimmy Choo clutch on Christmas morn?

For the nights when Frank is away, I shall count the days until his return with this.
