Recruiting at Fin’s

Monday, April 30th, 2012

With our Spring Summer 2013 photo shoot set to be our biggest yet, we need all the help we can get this month at Fin’s HQ! With this in mind, we are looking for two interns to help us out over this busy period.

PHOTOGRAPHY INTERN

We are looking for a young, creative intern with excellent Photoshop skills to assist us for two weeks starting on Tuesday 8th May. We’ll need our intern to be creative, super savvy and willing to work hard in order to help create our new look book. Duties will include assisting during the photo shoot itself, retouching images in post-production and working directly with Fin on the layout and design of the look book.

If you think you could be up to the job, or know somebody who would be, then please email info@finsforhim.com with your CV and a brief description of who you are, and why you think you would be a great fit for the job.

HAIR AND MAKE-UP ASSISTANT

Despite having cherry-picked the most handsome boys and fabulous girls around to star in our shoot, we are aware that even the most beautiful faces can use a little help under the bright lights of the studio.

With this in mind, we are looking for a young hair and make up artist to keep our models looking their best during the three-day shoot next week. If you’re interested in applying then please email info@finsforhim.com with your CV and a brief description of who you are and why you think you would be a great fit for the job.

LOVE

Chelsea’s Win

We might be an office full of girls but even we couldn’t help getting a little bit excited about Chelsea’s win against Barcelona on Wednesday night.

Hartford

We can’t get enough of chic Parisian brand Hartford. Their great linen shirts and cotton chinos provide a perfect base for any man’s summer wardrobe, so to help kick start yours, we are offering 15% off all Hartford products until Monday.

Exercise

This week has seen the girls at Fin’s HQ sign up to a number of new exercise regimes. From Bikram to barrecore we are all trying something new and hoping that they will give us an extra fitness boost in time for summer. Stay tuned!

Morphing into Gwyneth Paltrow

From speedily buying her favourite foundation, as recommended on Goop, to asking for Gwyneth blonde at the salon, we like to think that a little bit of Gwyneth has rubbed off on all of us at Fin’s HQ.

A true beauty icon

The Hunger Games

Forget the Twilight comparisons, this film is a must-see. From the gruesome scenes that had us hiding in our cinema snacks (cheese straws and blackberries if you’re interested) to the surprisingly dark storyline, we would highly recommend you see it for yourself this weekend.

Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth

HATE

After such a great week we are happy to say that we only have one hate, and it’s one that we think everyone will agree with!

April Showers

We want to be strolling down a sunny King’s Road in colourful suede loafers, NOT dodging puddles and struggling with umbrellas!

This weather is not boding well with our suede loafers!

How to wear: Hartford Shirts

Thursday, April 12th, 2012

Fin’s have fallen head over heels for this chic Parisian brand and are thrilled to be stocking its classic linen shirts online for Spring/Summer 2012.

We know our Finsketeers are partial to a bright colour or two on their feet but aren’t necessarily used to taking colour above the ankle.  So to help you out this season, we have put together a how-to-wear colour guide featuring styling tips from the Fin’s Team and a few of our favourite style blogs.

LILAC

First up is the Hartford linen shirt in Lilac. Summer colour doesn’t have to be bright and the delicate hue of this shirt makes it super easy to wear. We have styled it here with a classic pair of beige chinos. A strong tan Benny belt transforms this outfit from beach to city, and of course, to finish it off, a pair of Fin’s! If the combination of Lilac and Turquoise is too much for you, we recommend pairing the shirt with a neutral pair of loafers like the Kalahari Sand.

Alternatively, menswear style blog, The Chic Geek, suggests that you wear the Lilac shirt buttoned up and un-tucked.

PINK

The Hartford linen shirt in Pink is another bright shade for you to try this season. This candy coloured shade works well on all skin tones, which means you don’t have to wait until you have a tan to try it out! We have styled it with a pair of Hartford chinos in Pale Blue and a Benny Belt in Navy. A darker belt helps to balance out the pastel shades and means you can get away with a darker pair of shoes. We think the classic combination of Navy and Pink makes for a perfect summer outfit.

Chris Hogan from US menswear blog, Off the Cuff, suggested styling it ‘Under an old blue blazer, khaki shorts and loafers – Fin’s of course’

OCEAN BLUE

We love the vibrant blue shade of this shirt and have styled it simply with a pair of slim fit chinos and a contrasting pair of loafers in Rajasthani Emerald. We think the combination of vivid colours work really well in this outfit.

Menswear Style.com, a current favourite blog of ours, suggested styling this shirt ‘untucked, unbuttoned and sleeves rolled. Summer Time!’

Made In Chelsea – Fin’s favourites

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012

Fans of the E4 hit Made In Chelsea may have heard by now that when the stars such as Hugo, Spencer and Proudlock are in need of a new pair of shoes they come straight to their favourite local cobbler, Fin. In honour of the new series, which began last night, we thought we would spill a few style secrets and introduce you to the boys favourite Fin’s picks.

Hugo Taylor

Hugo is a big fan of our new summer styles and the George in Cobalt Blue looked particularly good on him! However, his favourite pick for SS12 was the Samuel in Red. Perfect for sunny days in London and equally chic paired with shorts in warmer climates.

Spencer Matthews

Spencer was a big fan of our classic Marshall loafers in Collinsay Pine. This deep racing Green is a timeless shade, which we think looks great paired with jeans. Spencer also picked our classic Drummond slipper in Black suede, ideal for dinner parties.

Oliver Proudlock

Oliver also loved our classic Marshall loafer. (It’s a best seller for a reason!) He chose Bute Navy, the newest shade in our Marshall range. Wear them to smarten up a pair of jeans, like Ollie, or pair with a classic chino.
